I am noticing more and more that the concept of straight women involved sexually and romantically is gaining popularity. Oprah's March issue of "O" had an article on Why Women Are Leaving Men for Other Women.
Oprah also did a show on this topic.
The NYT on January 22, 2009 did an article called, What Do Woman Want, By DANIEL BERGNER.
I am currently working on research to validate my findings as well as treatment of straight males who are engaging in sexual behaviors with other males.
Perhaps this is a taboo topic STILL! and it is easier to understand that women are doing this so it is receiving more public exposure.
I am going to make sure that this topic of SMSM's stays in the public eye through this blog. All over Craigslist.com you can find these straight men looking for other men so it does exist and cannot be denied.
What are your thoughts as to why there is so much exposure for straight women involved with other women (SWSW) but not the same is being exposed about straight males involved with other males?

This whole thing makes me sick. I'll tell you why. If it was about a man who left his wife and went with another man, it wouldn't be glorified or celebrated the way it is in this article. They wouldn't even call it "Why Men Are Leaving Women for Other Men". They would say these guys were ALWAYS gay, using their wives, liars, disgusting, closed, ashamed of who they were and so on. They would interview the wife and listen to her sob story while all the women who post there would offer condolences and voice their own fears about their husbands. Talk about how "terrible" it is.
When will we see a man crying on Oprah about how his wife left him for another woman? It's cool, sexy, hip and totally beautiful when a woman falls for another woman or is "open" enough to have sexual relations with another woman. But for a man, he's demonized, a closet case, etc.
I think this type of oppression and double standard is yet ANOTHER reason why some men might get a thrill our of secret M2M contact.
Well firstly, the Oprah show has always had the demographic of middle aged women watching the show, so it's understandable why they would cater more to women on this topic, because women are watching the show. Secondly, society accepts(or at least accepts it MORE) women that engage in homosexual activities and in fact might be considered "trendy" to do so in most highly populated areas (cities like New York, LA, etc). Men unfortunately aren't given the same treatment and is often frowned upon and considered "weird". It was nice that Oprah touched on this subject so that people can be more open to the re-evaluation of sexual nature and relationships between genders of the same sex.
I agreed with the doctor's research about sexual fluidity in women, but I feel that she hasn't done enough study in men to come to the conclusion that men are more static when it comes to sex (either gay or straight). I believe that we are just as flexible and capable(gay and straight men) when it comes to experiencing sex AND relationships from both genders. It's just that society has placed this stigma on man for playing the role they were meant to play (in order to conform to normality, or at least the current idea of it)that to experience these situations becomes a form of taboo.
Sorry but there is a ton of scientific research that demonstrates a vast difference in male and female sexuality. Citing the Urban Dictionary as the foundation of a concept is hardly convincing. Closeted gay husbands avoid emotional connections with other men, even as they engage in physical intimacy. And then one day they meet Mr. Right and the whole concept of heteroflexible falls apart.
Jest de Fax,
You are so right when it involves men who are actually gay. However the same does not hold true for straight men who have sex with men. Try as they might, they cannot make themselves gay.
I cited the Urban Dictionary to show that this is becoming part of our culture in terms of language. It is, of course, not meant to represent science.
Thanks for reading Straight Guise.
my boyfriend told me he had been abused sexually by his older brother and by his godfather when he was a teen. he has experimented with men, mutual masturbation and blow jobs periodically as an adult and mostly at the end of his marrieage. mostly hookups. he said he never told anyone about this before. he said he would hookup just to get his rocks off. we had been dating for over 2.5 years and he cheated on me with one of his male friends who is married to a woman. i broke up with him for cheating, but he says he is not gay. i don't believe it.
I'm a gay bloke, str8 acting (whatever that is)...
I've had many experiences with straight men. They are happily married and love their wives and family. Alas, when it comes to his sex "drive" - his sexual needs may not be "met" within his/their relationship. Str8 men having gay sex is not something "new".He just needs a sexual release. It doesn't mean he loves his wife and family any less... Men may be very sexual and need a "release", perhaps it's much "easier" with another man because there's less potential emotion attatched to "the act", and he doesn't want to pay a premium price for a Prostitute (again, Prostitutes face much danger, but they need to earn a living - in one form or another....)
Respectfully, Ladies, please give your men some "lee way", men have a high sex drive.
I appreciate that man 2 man sex may make you feel physically sick....
I'm not convinced that the human race is 100% Straight. It is/are the morals of society which dictate as to what is and is not acceptable, and, perhaps, rightfully so.... In terms of evolutionary theory, men have a need to spread "their seed", and, thankfully, this is "contained" within a loving, long term relationship.... Society, as we know it, would not exist otherwise.... You may "argue" that, in evolutionary terms, it is not "natural" for a man to have sex with another man, but... evolution is more complicated than that - i.e. in terms of "survival of the fittest" why do Gay people still exist? OK, I grant you that morals of Society may prevent the "demise" of gay people through killing etc, but, in the absence of such morals of Society - Gay people will still exist - for "better, for worse"....
